is still searching for balance in attack. He’s named changes in his attacking
line-up in each of his last 3 games in the EPL 2019. Last game
against Manchester United at Old Trafford, he went with Vardy as a striker, and
Gray and Maddison on the wings. In the game before that, against Bournemouth at
home, he went with Vardy as a striker, Marc Albrighton and Harvey Barnes on the
wings and Maddison in a roving role. The only constants are Vardy and Maddison,
and the rest depends on how much of an attacking threat he feels Tottenham will

After a lacklustre start to the
season that saw a solitary victory, 2 draws and 1 abysmal loss against
Newcastle, Spurs’ season finally sprung to life with a 4-0 thrashing of Crystal
Palace. A nice home game would have allowed them to build some momentum, but an
away game against Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City will require them to dig deep
to get a win. It will provide a firmer test of their credentials compared to a
limp and lost Palace side.
Pochettino rotated heavily for
Spurs’ opening Champions League fixture against Olympiacos, and they return
home with a 2-2 draw. Kane and Eriksen have been ever-present, and will start
again. Moura, who scored against Olympiacos, will make way for Son, who was
rested. Alli was substituted in the 2nd half and will probably start again this
gameweek. Ndombele will make way for Sissoko.
Spurs will most likely revert
to the line-up that served them so well against Crystal Palace, a flexible
4-2-2-2/4-2-3-1 with Eriksen and Alli playing in the half-spaces ahead of
Sissoko and Wink and behind Kane and Son.

Leicester have 54.6% possession in the English Premier
League this season, which rises to 58% at home. Spurs have 57% possession,
which drops to 46% in away games. But Spurs away games this season have been
versus Manchester City and Arsenal, so that 46% is probably an outlier. Expect
Spurs to have more possession and make more passes in the game than Leicester
City

Both sides have been dangerous going forward. Spurs have 11 goals
in the Premier League while Leicester have 6. 4 of Spurs’ 11 came
against Crystal Palace and Leicester will probably not be so generous. The only
game in which Leicester failed to score was against United, but this game is at
home for them. Expect a victory for Spurs, but a narrow victory with both sides

Son and Vardy are sure to score. Vardy has 3 goals in his last 3
games, Son scored a double against Palace. With Leicester at home, they will be
more susceptible to quick, trademark counters, and with Son’s pace, he is
likely to contribute with goals and/or assists. Kane is dangerous any time, but
is currently on a slightly “barren” run of 1 goal in 3 games. Against Arsenal,
of course.
4.
It will be an aggressive game with both sides committing to the
tackle. Sissoko and Winks are no lightweights in midfield, and Leicester could
always add Hamza Choudhury to their ranks, should they choose to. Expect Spurs
to be aggressive, and to complete more tackles than Leicester in order to win
possession back
5.
Tottenham have had more than 10 shots in every game, except the
game vs City where they came up with 3. Leicester City, in their quest for
defensive solidity, have managed more than 10 shots in only 2 of their 5 games.
Tottenham will have more shots and shots on target then Leicester
6.
The assists are likely to be provided by Maddison and Eriksen.
Maddison has 2 assists to his name so far in the league, while Eriksen has
none.
